2010 Southerndownhill Race Team

After a couple of years away, Southerndownhill is proud to be back on track with its 2010 race team. UK downhill racing is the foundation of Southerndownhill so it is only right and fitting that for 2010 Southerndownhill will be out and about with full effect to rip up the trails and race to the finish with a big grin. Thanks to some amazing sponsors Southerndownhill has lined up a wicked package for our 5 riders to shred the UK race scene on. Riding on the new Astrix Havoc R, with its 8" travel using their full PCA and Motolink system, plus the renowned RockShox Boxxer Team up front, it’s a good job Funn stepped up with their Drop In brake to haul it to a stop. Drivetrain components couldn't be anyone else but Shimano with their Saint range designed just for the job and the chains kept on by none other than E-13 (who else!). All that rolling on Superstar Components latest wheels wrapped in the latest grippy tyres from Decent-Gear, who are pit-bitching for us with race side assistance too. Top that all off with Cycle Jersey producing a one off shirt for the team to use alongside AXO kit , plus a full Slik Graphics sticker kit. Not just fast, but looking good whilst doing it! So who are these Southerndownhill party people? Chris Astle – After missing out a place in Expert last year by a silly small amount Chris won't stop until he gets to that milestone this year with his shoulder in or out. Neil Cousins – No one knows as much about suspension as this man. TF’s workshop manager gets back between the tape for some proper racing. Rob Lewis (Team Manager) – It's time for Rob to get off the key board and get to more races. Southerndownhill is about riding bikes and that's exactly what he plans on doing. Ryan Telling – While Ryan hasn't been racing for the past few years he has still been pushing his bike skills. Back with racing this year Ryan hopes to lay down some good times both in the UK and over the pond later this season. Tom Whant – After breaking his wrist mid season, then breaking it again(!), Tom still came away with some impressive results in '09. With the bones on the mend, Tom's aim is to fill a solid season and move into expert for 2011. We caught up with Rob, somewhere between here, there and a strange place in-between...
